Rachel Nolan - Hypnobirthing Teacher and antenatal practitioner
Hi, I'm Rachel, mum of four energetic children living in the West Midlands. I currently run hypnobirthing courses, NCT Antenatal courses, and am part of the parent education team at the Birmingham Womens Hospital. In my spare time I love to look after new parents locally at my weekly NCT bumps and babies group and I also volunteer as a volunteer doula with the Bethel Doula service supporting pregnant women and parents across the city. I have also volunteered as a peer supporter at the local sling library, breastfeeding group and playgroups over the past 12 years. My previous career as a mental health nurse and cognitive behaviour therapist have given me great experience, patience and skills to help new parents on their journey. I am passionate about supporting new parents to have a calm and positive journey through their birth and life with a newborn.
I have a Diploma in Antenatal Education, a Nursing Degree with RMN and a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I also have been accredited with birthing Awareness 3 step process for birth trauma.
I am a Little Birth Company registered hypnobirthing teacher, and I am looking forward to meeting you xx
Why Hypnobirthing?
Hypnobirthing is a birth preparation technique based on scientific evidence using guided hypnosis to prepare for a positive birth. My classes are a combination of antenatal education covering the physiology of birth and how your mind affects your body and the progression of labour and the lovely relaxation practice that you will take part in. I only give balanced information on your choices, so you can optimise your chances of a positive birth. We will use the repetitive reinforcement of positive affirmations and imagery of birth to overwrite any negative associations with labour, relaxation techniques, breathing and fear release exercises.
The aim is to plan for your best birth and to ensure you feel positive about the experience no matter how birth happens!
I offer an intensive course over 4 hours, this course is wonderful for second time parents, parents on a tighter budget or are shorter in time, or if you are also doing a full antenatal programme with another provider this can complement another course. I am running monthly group courses or can do private course via zoom or in your home.
The complete programme, Is 10 hours, currently only offered as a 1:1 and covers all aspects of antenatal education including a more thorough look at stages of labour, comfort measures and preparing for the immediate postnatal period as well as all the hypnobirthing education and techniques.
When you change the way you view birth, the way you birth will change
